Mildred Lee Johnson

Mildred Lee “Granny” Johnson died Dec.27, 2013, at River Region Medical Center. She was 66.

She was born May 5, 1947, to Samuel Johnson and Maple Lowe Johnson in Carson.

Ms. Johnson grew up in the Shorts Chapel Community in Jefferson Davis County and attended Carver High School in Bassfield. She moved to Lorman in 1981 to live with her brother and sister-in-law, Lee Roy and Betty Johnson, and later lived in Vicksburg.

She was a member of Shorts Chapel C.M.E. Church in Bassfield, and was an associate member of the Waterloo M.B. Church in Lorman. She later joined Cedar Grove M.B. Church in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maple Johnson; sisters Grace Booth and Lucielle Gray; and a brother Richard Johnson.

Besides her brother, survivors include a sister, Earnestine Hall of Mount Olive; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Oscar Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
