Vicksburg man arrested in auto theft

A Vicksburg man was being held in the Issaquena County Jail this morning for possession of a stolen vehicle.

James Smith, 47, who lives on Cherry Street, was arrested for stealing a woman’s vehicle at St. Luke’s Church, said Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble.

Kimble said that she asked Smith to watch her vehicle that was parked in the church’s parking lot on Main Street. Smith took the car and sold it for $500 to Keys Recycling, said Lt. Kimble.

Smith’s bond is $10,000.

Various items taken in burglaries

Electronics, a tool box and an air conditioning unit were reported missing this morning following two burglaries.

At about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a Black and Decker tool set, an Apple iPod, and a White Samsung Galaxy S3 with a pink and black phone case was reported missing from a residence in the 100 block of Fairy Lane, according to Warren County Jail records

At about 11:25 a.m. Sunday, a Phillips 60-inch console TV valued at $600 and two window air conditioning units valued at $200 each were reported missing from a residence on Standard Hill Drive, said Vicksburg police Lt. Troy Kimble.
