Lelia Mae Short

Lelia Mae Short of Vicksburg died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at her home following a sudden illness. She was 72.

Mrs. Short was a retired supervisor with the S & L Electric Co. of Chicago and was a member of the Oak Chapel M.B. Church where she was a Mother of the Church.

She is survived by a son, Larry James Short of Mission Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Evelyn D. Short-Hoskins of Bay Point, Calif.; five brothers Robert Short Sr. of Vicksburg, Kemp Jones Sr. of Gary, Ind., Charles Cage of Atlanta, Ga., Leo Cage Jr. of Memphis and Garry Cage of Atlanta; her sisters Carole Short-Smith of Chicago, and Carrie Cage-Marshall of Atlanta; a granddaughter Adraianne Nina Hoskins of Bay Point, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Short, her mother, Ledora Jones Short; a brother John Jackson; and a sister Doris Cage.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Oak Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Dellie C. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Chapel Cemetery with W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the chapel.
