Two Vicksburg students have aced the math portion of the state’s exam two years in a row.

Bowmar Elementary School sixth-grader Greyson Parman, 11, and Vicksburg Junior High School eighth-grader Nicholas Crasta, 13, earned perfect scores on the math exam two years straight and will be honored Thursday at the Vicksburg Warren School District board meeting.

“The first time you do it, you’re like ‘woah!’” said Greyson’s mother, Pam Parman. “The second time you do it, you’re like ‘wow, this is like pitching a perfect game.”’

Geryson said math and science are his favorite subjects and that he would like to eventually go into the medical field.

His father, Billy Parman, is an electrical engineer for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. Pam Parman is a former guidance counselor with Vicksburg Warren School Distirct.

Nicholas is one of a handful of students at VJHS who was placed into advanced freshman-level algebra, his father, Colin Crasta, said. Because he was taking the advanced class, Nicholas was required to take two MCT2 exams last year.

“I am very proud of my son,” Colin Crasta said.

Nicholas said science and math come naturally to him and he’s looking forward to taking the science exam this year.

“I want to be a scientific engineer,” Nicholas said.

Colin Crasta is an electrical and computer engineer who works with a private firm based in Atlanta. Nicholas’ mother, Dannetta Crasta, is a computer scientist with the Corps of Engineers.
