A soldier’s service

Cessalie Magee helps Greg Bingham with his 101st Airborne uniform from the World War II era. Park rangers and volunteers set up displays and dressed in uniforms depicting soldiers dating back to the Revolutionary War as part of the park’s Memorial Day events. The displays will continue today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The park will also host a concert by the U.S. Air Force Reserve Brass Quintet today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the USS Cairo Museum. On Monday veteran’s groups will lay a wreath on the grave of an unknown soldier at 12:30 p.m. and a moment of silence will be observed at 3 p.m. in tribute to all the men and women who died in service to the nation.
