Lucille Jennings Uzzle passed away peacefully Wednesday night, Aug. 15, 2012, at the age of 86 at Conway Regional Hospital in Conway, Ark.
She was born in Holly Bluff, Miss., on Feb. 20, 1926, to the late Robert Jefferson Jennings and Yoland Briggs Jennings. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Edgar David Uzzle.
Lucille and David were longtime members of First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork. David and Lucille farmed, worked in various occupations and will be remembered for being the owners of Uzzle’s Machine Shop in Rolling Fork for many years.
David and Lucille were blessed with three wonderful children: Maj. Donnie T. Uzzle (deceased), Robert H. Uzzle of Suttons Bay, Mich., and Mary Leona “Susie” Uzzle Dunaway of Morrilton, Ark.
Lucille was extremely proud of her grandchildren, Brodie Uzzle, Landry Uzzle, Patricia Uzzle, Thomas Uzzle, Michael Dunaway and Amy Dunaway; as well as five great-grandchildren, Nicole Tillman, Kelsey Wade, Hannah Dunaway, Emma Dunaway and Nicholas Uzzle. She was blessed with one great-great-grandchild, Harley Grace Tillman.
Lucille loved spending time with her extended family and was particularly grateful for the good times shared at the annual “Briggs Cousins” gathering. Lucille is also survived by her sister, Clare Jeanette Weeks, and many nieces and nephews she loved as her own children.
The family would like to thank the staff and her many friends at Trillium Park in Conway and the doctors and staff of Conway Regional Hospital, as well as Dr. Robert Rook who provided primary care for the past several years.
A family visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork on Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 5 until 7 p.m. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with burial following at Mound Cemetery. The Rev. Millard Caulder will officiate.
The family requests any donations be made to First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork or a favorite charity.
