The mayor and aldermen have indicated they will “mull” decreasing our natural gas rates. Well, rooty-tooty.

After raping the citizenry for years, they’re finally into the “mulling” phase. What a bunch of compassionate guys!

I have a friend who uses natural gas at his house in Oxford. He pays $5.40 per mcf. The City of Vicksburg puts the screws to its customers at the rate of $12 per mcf, more than twice that in Oxford. Nationally, the wholesale price is less than $2 per mcf.

Gouging of Vicksburg’s natural gas customers has been going on for years. What has the City done with all the profit from their overbilling?

Can the city and county natural gas customers expect a huge refund after all this exploitation? Least of all, can we expect to pay no more than those who reside in Oxford?
