PEARL — Services for Mr. C. David Crenshaw will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Darrel Blankenship and Rev. Jimmy Parker will officiate.

Visitation will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at Milling Funeral Home.

Mr. Crenshaw, 63, of Pearl, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.

Mr. Crenshaw was a member of Springs of Praise in Crystal Springs, Miss.

Words can speak volumes about a person, but a life lived speaks louder. For those of us who were privileged to know Dave, we know how loud his life has spoken. About his belief in God, his life spoke the loudest. He continuously studied the Word, spent time in prayer, and wanted to be a man that was pleasing to God — just another David with a heart after God.

Dave was devoted to his wife, Sybil, of 16 years. When Sybil and Dave decided to meet for the first time, both felt God was up to something. Sybil’s first question was, “What are your intentions?” Dave answered by saying, “Well, I thought we would spend some time together and see how that worked out, and then we would get married.” She said, “Yes!” The words “I love you” did not pass his lips often, but were spoken loudly by his actions. Sybil says, “Show me a happy wife and I will show you a great husband! And since October 23, 1995, I have been that happy wife.”

Together they traveled, spent quality time with family, and formed strong bonds with friends. Though he spent many days on the road driving for Ergon, Dave took the time to stay connected with friends and family. Not only did he call just to “catch up,” but he remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and any other important dates.

His phone calls would come at just the right time; he would pass along a book or CD to someone who needed exactly what was shared; he would walk up to someone who was hurting, tears in his eyes, not speaking, but nodding his head that he understood. He made people laugh without trying, was a great storyteller, and a fun, practical joker.

To know Dave was to love him and those who did will feel his absence from this life, but are rejoicing for him and his great fortune in his eternal life, for we know the Lord has prepared Dave an awesome place of rest. You will be missed by all, My Sweetie, but we would not deny you the joy of being welcomed home by Jesus, the Saviour you loved. You have a well-deserved retirement and rest from your journey in this life. (Maybe I misunderstood; I thought we were retiring together!)

Survivors include his devoted wife, Sybil Wyatt Crenshaw of Pearl; two daughters, Desiree Crenshaw of Jackson and Joyce Williams Huskey and husband Philip of Ridgeland; three sons: Derek Crenshaw of Richland, Brian Flynt and wife Sonya of Hamilton, and Chris Flynt of Jackson; his mother, Hilda Crenshaw of Dixon; five grandchildren, Gabe Brookshire, Zachery Flynt, Brison Flynt, AnnDee Huskey and Array Huskey; two sisters, Linda Joyce and husband John of Fairhope, Ala., and Claudia Smith and husband Ricco of Dixon; one sister-in-law, Diane Crenshaw of Pete Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doc Crenshaw, and one brother, Dennis Crenshaw.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Holley, Josh Holley, Jay Wyatt, Oree Wyatt, Larry McAlpin and Chris Beauvais
