A Vicksburg man was sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to failing to pay $40,000 in child support.

Patrick Rader, 39, 200 Belva Drive, pleaded guilty Wednesday before Circuit Judge M. James Chaney and was sentenced for two counts of felony non-support of his children.

Rader was ordered to immediately pay $1,100 toward his child support, and during his probation, he must pay an additional $150 a month on top of his regular child support obligation.

“I hope our state’s deadbeat parents are getting the message that they need to live up to their responsibilities the easy way or we’ll make them do it the hard way,” said Attorney General Jim Hood.

Special Assistant Attorney General Deshun T. Martin, Director of the Attorney General’s Child Desertion Unit, prosecuted this case.

Rader was indicted in November by a Warren County grand jury.
