The Vicksburg Housing Authority Career Development Center honored six children who were local winners in the 2011 “What Home Means To Me” poster contest sponsored by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. The winning contestants honored at a luncheon at the housing authority’s Career Center were DeShawndrie Parker, Le’Kethia McDaniel, Nicodemus Henry and sisters McKell Henry, Dasia Henry, and Asia Henry. They received cash awards, a gift card from Walmart and movie passes. Asia Henry’s poster finished third statewide and was among three selected to go to the NAHRO national competition. Her poster will hang for one year in the Vicksburg Warren School District board room.
