School district madness

Well, like Ronald Reagan would say, “There she goes again.”
The Warren County schools superintendent’s hiring two people to be public relations employees is a joke. And at a salary and benefits that could reach more than $100,000 a year no less.
I thought it was mostly the superintendent, but now I realize it is just as much those we elected to the school board as it is she. I wish someone would explain it to me and the people who called and asked me to write this letter why we really need to spend that much money when the Warren County Board of Supervisors said they are already going to have to raise taxes again.
What’s going to happen in about a year when these two people get like the superintendent and they need an assistant or a receptionist because they become too important to write letters, answer their phones or just need someone to make coffee and bring it to them?
Fifty-five years ago, Redwood had 540 students and the total employees, counting teachers, principal, coaches, janitor, lunch room ladies, and everyone else was a grand total of 22.
I received a list of every employee at Redwood Elementary School now and it is 62 employees. Can you believe that? One little grammar school has to have as many people in the activity and special staff, 21 total as the entire number of employees as 55 years ago at Redwood High School? The 62 total employees now working does not include two with the title of “other school personnel.”
Have all the schools in Warren County multiplied like this? And if so, why have the test scores been some of the lowest in Mississippi?
Don’t it make everyone wonder? It sure does me.
When are the supervisors and the school board members going to realize that raising taxes for things and people that are not needed is just plain stupid?
