PORT GIBSON — Bertha Nash Gaines died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Gaines was a member of Springhill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rowan Gaines Sr.; her parents, Arnette and Nellie Nash; and a granddaughter, Kenya Thomas.

Survivors include two daughters, Nellie King and Ellen Gaines, both of Port Gibson; three sons, Sammie Thomas and Rowan Gaines Jr., both of Port Gibson, and Joseph Gaines of New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1 until 6 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
