A Vicksburg man was being held without bond in the Issaquena County Jail, accused of stealing a bicycle from an 11-year-old boy at gunpoint Wednesday night, Vicksburg police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

He said Christopher Jones, 18, 1218 Harrison St., faces charges of armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm. He said Jones was being held pending an initial appearance today in Vicksburg Municipal Court.

He said the robbery occurred about 9:23 p.m. Wednesday while the boy was riding the bicycle in the 500 block of Fifth North Street.

Jones, Stewart said, walked up to the boy, pulled a .22-caliber pistol and demanded the bicycle. The boy ran home and told his parents, who called police.

Using a description of the robber provided by the boy, officers arrested Jones about 10 minutes later near Fifth North and Grove streets.

Police recovered the bike and the pistol, which had been reported stolen in July by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
