Entergy is hopeful it will have power fully restored in Warren County by tonight, Entergy spokesman Don Arnold said.
“We’re down to 1,400 people,” he said Saturday afternoon. “We should have power back to everyone who is able accept it. We have some places that have meter base damage, where the meter is attached to the house. They’ll have to get an electrician to fix that (before their service is restored).”
Friday evening, Entergy reported 3,430 people were without power as cleanup continued in the wake of Hurricane Isaac, which crossed Warren County Wednesday and Thursday, delivering high winds and dropping more than 2 inches of rain.
Most of the outages remained in south Warren County and Bovina, Arnold said, adding scattered outages also remained in Vicksburg.
While all county roads were open, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said drivers needed to exercise caution on many of the county’s rural roads, because of roadside debris.
“There are still large trees on the side of the roads,” he said. “Time was critical during the storm, so the crews cut the trees and just moved them to the side to clear the road and decided to remove it later. The debris is on the edge of the road, and could create a problem if people leave the road, especially on roads where there is little or no shoulder.”
Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas said all roads in Claiborne County were open, but many people remained without power across the county.
“It’s getting restored, but a lot of people don’t have lights,” he said.
The Natchez Trace Parkway has reopened the Rocky Springs site as well as the rest of the Parkway from Natchez to Nashville, which was closed because of Isaac, according to information from the National Park Service.
