Charles Cooper Craft

MADISON — Charles Cooper Craft, 76, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, in Vicksburg. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Charles was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Raleigh, Miss., to Cooper and Vida Craft. The family lived in Raleigh and Jackson until moving to Vicksburg in 1947. He graduated from Carr Central High School and Mississippi State University. Following graduation from graduate school, he spent several years respectively at MSU, Florida College and Mississippi University for Women before returning to Vicksburg.

He retired as superintendent of the Vicksburg Warren School District in 1994. Following retirement, he spent several years at All Saints’ Episcopal School.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Cooper and Vida Craft; his first wife, Linda Tischner, and his second wife, Nancy Weeks.

Charles is survived by his wife and high school classmate, Beverly Harvey Craft of Madison; daughters, Barbara Craft Watson (Stennis), Emily Craft Broad (Rick), Melissa Weeks Jeter (Keith) and Jenny Weeks Wilkes (John); stepchildren, Chris Johnston (Vickie) and Geoffrey Johnston (Stephanie); 10 grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Harry Craft (Patti).

The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, or the charity of your choice.

Sebrell Funeral Home of Ridgeland has charge of arrangements.
