Julie Eskoff of Austin, Texas, takes a minute to look at a painting, “Randal McGavock: God’s Own Gentleman,” placed at the Mississippi Welcome Center Wednesday. The painting depicts the last moments of Confederate Col. Randal McGavock, who led the 10th Tennessee Irish in the Battle of Raymond. The painter, Jerry McWilliams of Raymond, presented the painting for the center’s permanent collection in honor of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.
