Vicksburg physician Dr. Susan A. Chiarito has been elected president of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Chiarito received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Christian University and her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School, where she also completed her residency in family medicine.

She has been an active member of the MAFP for more than 17 years. She also is a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi State Medical Association and serves on the board of directors for the Vicksburg Medical Foundation.

She and her husband, Vince, live in Vicksburg. The couple has two daughters, Mary Alyce and Cicily. She is an elder of First Christian Church.
