Achievements

• The Vicksburg Warren School District and U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center have signed an Education Partnership Agreement to work together to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics opportunities in Vicksburg area schools. Signing the agreement were Dr. Jeffery Holland, ERDC director, and Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, VWSD superintendent. Related opportunities include Robotics, employment, mentoring and equipment donations.

• Dr. Mattie R. Rasco, assistant professor and nutrition specialist at Alcorn State University Extension Program, has been selected for a 3-year term on the U.S. Department of Agriculture Nutrition and Health Committee for Planning and Guidance. Dr. Rasco, who also serves as Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program coordinator, will assist with national health and nutrition policies and programs as a member of the committee.
