The engagement of Abigail Christine Johnston to William Nickle Smith, both of Oxford, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 6 p.m. Dec. 1, 2012, at Oxford-University United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at The Lyric Oxford.

Miss Johnston is the daughter of Nita Johnston of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Johnston of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Joseph D. Pahnka and the late Juanita K. Pahnka and the late Dr. and Mrs. Walter E. Johnston, all of Vicksburg.

Mr. Smith is the son of Susan Nickle Smith of Oxford and William Perry Smith of Batesville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Nickle of Batesville and Mrs. John William Smith of Pope and the late Mr. Smith.

The bride-elect attended Warren Central High School and is a 2006 graduate of Clinton High School. She attended the University of Mississippi and is a district sales executive at Expeditors International in Memphis.

The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of Tupelo High School. He attended the University of Mississippi and is an engineer with Parker Hannifin Corp. in Batesville.
