Marjorie Mims Rucker

Marjorie Mims Rucker died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 76.
Born in Black Hawk, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Jack Mims and Katye Tindall Mims Miles. A longtime resident of Vicksburg, she graduated with honors from Hinds Community College.
Mrs. Rucker was a past member of the Vicksburg Jaycettes and was a hostess for the Miss Mississippi Pageant for a number of years. She was active in the Optimist Club of Vicksburg and the Vicksburg Little Theatre Guild.
Mrs. Rucker was a real estate bookkeeper and an agent with the Ernest Thomas Real Estate Agency and Danny Rice until her retirement. She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, serving as a choir member and as director of the children’s Sunday school department for more than 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Riley Rucker Sr.; a son, Mark Carl Rucker; and a brother, Robert Miles.
She is survived by two sons, James (Jim) Rucker Jr. of Vicksburg and Tommy (Tom) Rucker of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Johnnie Miles of Chicago and Roslyn Miles McNeer of Cleveland, Miss.; four granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Ron Goldman, Jerry Rushing, Rusty Henne, Wayne Swilley, Jerry Lynch, Danny Skipper, Pete Hall and Mike McGee.
