HOLIDAY ISLAND, Ark. — JoAnn Brown Beevers, 77, of Holiday Island, Ark., formerly of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Hermitage Gardens of Southaven. Visitation will be from 10 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Cleveland Funeral Home with a graveside funeral service to follow at North Cleveland Cemetery at 11 a.m. with Eddie Chapman officiating.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1935, to Upton and Fannie Stevenson Brown in Shelby. She married Sam Beevers on Nov. 16, 1952, in Shelby. She was a Shelby High graduate.
In the early years, JoAnn played basketball in school and was a majorette in the band.
After marriage and living in Vicksburg, she was employed as a bookkeeper with Foam Packaging. Later in life, she worked with SCF Tugboat Company in Greenville until she retired.
She was a member of the Holiday Island Baptist Church. She was a member of Junior Auxiliary under Ray Mabus. She enjoyed playing cards in the bridge card group.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Sue Craig and Willie Carwile; and brother, Thomas Brown.
She is survived by her two sons, Terry Beevers of Pell City, Ala., and Greg Beevers and wife Pam Fletcher Beevers of Olive Branch; sister, Mary Stephenson of Collierville, Tenn.; brother, Noel and wife Carolyn Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Wade Beevers of Birmingham, Kathleen Beevers of Auburn and Amelia Beevers of Olive Branch; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wade Beevers, Jackie Beevers, Joe Beevers, Butch Craig, Ricky Carwile and Chris Carwile.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Champion, Billy Chipman, Bill Chipman, Mike Carwile, Dustin Carwile, Kelly Beevers, Rodney Stevenson, Stevie Stevenson, Andrew Garner and Nathan Garner.
