Dr. Richard Stockstill, a researcher with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory in Vicksburg, will receive the American Society of Civil Engineers Hydraulic Structures Medal for 2012.
He is one of four ERDC researchers to win the award. Others are Frank B. Campbell in 1984, Dr. Steve Maynord in 1997, and Dr. John Hite in 2005. Campbell has retired from ERDC. Maynord and Hite still work at the CHL.
The award is given for significant contributions to the advancement of hydraulic engineering as applied to hydraulic structures. Stockstill is being recognized for his career contributions in advancing the capabilities for numerical modeling of hydraulic structures. The results of his work have been used extensively throughout the Corps and the engineering community.
He will receive the medal May 23 at the Environmental and Water Resources Institute annual congress in Albuquerque, N.M.
