Three Vicksburg businesspeople will fill slots on the Main Street Board of Directors, board members were told Thursday.
Board chairman Ronnie Bounds said Skipper Guizerix, Dean Anderson and Remy Massey were elected by the property owners in the downtown taxing district in October to serve three-year terms on the board. They will be seated Nov. 29, when the board reconvenes from its recessed Thursday meeting to elect officers.
They replace board members Nancy Bell, Linda Gerache and Harry Sharp.
Sharp resigned as the board chairman in August 2011, and did not seek another term. Gerache also did not seek re-election. Bell sought another term, but was not re-elected.
Guizerix works at Trustmark Bank in investment banking, trusts, estates and insurance. He is president of the Vicksburg Convention Center Board of Directors and serves on the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and the Children’s Shelter Board. He and his wife, Christy, have two children, a son, Chris, and a daughter, Manda.
Anderson is co-owner with her husband, Chuck, of Shiers Communications Specialists, a communications and security company for industry and the federal government. She is a volunteer with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Make a Promise Coalition, Main Street, and is on the RiverFest Board of Directors. She and her husband have three children, Veronica, J. and Landon.
Massey is a broker for Coldwell Banker All Stars Inc. and co-owner with his wife, Kasman, of Revolution Enterprises LLC, a company that buys, rehabilitates, and sells property. He is the son of board member Norma Massey and is president of the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors.
In other action, the board:
• Approved the treasurer’s and downtown taxing district reports.
• Approved $300 for advertising to sponsor the River City Cycling bicycle group for two years.
• Were told the Christmas Parade of Lights is at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and the Vicksburg Mardi Gras parade is Feb. 9.
