Accused shooter at VHS surrenders to city police

A Vicksburg teen accused of shooting outside Vicksburg High School surrendered to police this morning.

Mario Mixon, 18, 911 Locust St., surrendered at police headquarters about 10 a.m. today, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Mixon is charged with seven counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle, Stewart said.

Mixon is accused of shooting at a 2005 Honda Pilot several times with a 9mm pistol as students were trying to get into the SUV at Drummond Street and Stadium Drive at 2:51 p.m. Friday. No one was wounded.

Mixon was held without bail today awaiting his initial court appearance.
