A Vicksburg man walked away this morning after his truck plowed into a pole inches from a gasoline pump after his truck’s gas pedal got stuck while he was driving on Interstate 20.

Kelvin Rankins, 41, no address available, was westbound on I-20 when he realized the gas pedal on his Dodge Dakota was stuck, he told authorities. He jumped out on the highway near Indiana Avenue before it turned in “donuts” in the median along the interstate and then crossed North Frontage Road, between a guy wire and a power pole and struck the support beam at Valero gas station, 3060 Indiana Ave., Vicksburg Police Department traffic investigator Eric Paymon said.

Separately, two people were injured in separate wrecks on the same county road Thursday.
