Col. Richard B. Stuart

STRAIGHT BAYOU — Richard B. Stuart, a retired Army colonel, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital. He was 80.
Col. Stuart was born in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University and Ohio State Medical School. He retired from the Army with 33 years of active duty in the medical corps. After retirement he was employed at Ochsners Clinic in New Orleans for 10 years. He had lived in Sharkey County since 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allaman and Frieda Stuart; and a sister, Anita Stuart.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie B. Stuart of Straight Bayou; a son, Doug Stuart of St. Louis; a daughter, Kathy Stuart Matheny of Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Stuart of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Ed Boss of Athens, Ga.; five sisters, Judy Rheberg of Door County, Wis., Diana Boss of Mexico, Carol Neuzil and Connie Davidson, both of Mason, Ohio, and Linda Boss of Portland, Texas; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Straight Bayou Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.
