Mr. Hunt, Miss Matthews are wed at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg

Justin Trevor Hunt and Lucy Elizabeth Matthews were married at 3 p.m. Nov. 19, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg. Dr. Douglas Matthew Buckles officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Keith and Shellie Matthews of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. C.D. Matthews and the late Mr. Matthews and the late Mr. and Mrs. O.K. Batte of Jackson.

The groom is the son of Richard and Rebecca Hunt of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of the late Erle and Janie Payne Metzen of Vicksburg and Hazel Knox and the late Mr. Knox of Wappapello, Mo.

Given in marriage by her father and mother, the bride’s chosen colors were burnt orange and brown in a fall theme. Musician was Jennifer Tillotson, and soloist was Jim Hess, both of Vicksburg.

Maid of honor was Krista McCollum of Starkville. Bridesmaids were Brittney Baylot, Haley Jones of Starkville, Kari Lieberman of Hattiesburg, Miranda Bell of Los Angeles, Ashley Matthews of Madison and Christin Matthews and Millicent Hunt, both of Vicksburg.

Richard Hunt served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Richard Hunt II, James Hunt, Aaron Matthews of Vicksburg, David Matthews of Madison, Robbie Bell of Los Angeles and Brian Hunt and Matthew Gordon of Hattiesburg.

A wedding reception followed at the B’Nai Brith Literary Club. Guests were entertained by Disc Jockey Rocco Grisham of Sound Design.

Wedding planner and assistant was Donna Markle. Bridgett Hunt served as the bride’s proxy.

For a wedding trip the couple traveled to New Orleans. They will make their home in Hattiesburg.

The bride is completing her degree in English Licensure at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she will pursue a career in secondary education. The groom is an instructor of music at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville.

Brunch

Shellie Matthews and Lisa McCollum hosted a bridesmaids’ brunch on the morning of the wedding.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church.

Engagement party

The couple was honored with an engagement party at the home of Jane Flowers. Hosts were Toby and Mike Burnett, Jane Flowers, Sharon and Michael Harden, Teresa and Tom Henry, Kay and Bruce Lee, Candace Logue, Alice and Randy Shelton, and Catherine and Duane Stagg.

Showers

The bride was honored with a miscellaneous shower at the home of Georganne Swillie. Hostesses were Cherie Anderton, Karen Boyd, Kay Chaney, Teresa Chaney, Susan Crawley, Janie Easterling, Lori Edney, Kim Farris, Debbie Freeman, Janet Holland, Lisa Ingram, Beckie Kerut, Peggi May, Susan Mckinnie, Bettye Payne, Gail Rhett, Linda Strong, Georganne Swillie and Maurice Tadlock.

Leslie Hollowell, Brittney Baylot, Teresa Jones and Haley Jones hosted a Pampered Chef shower at the home of Leslie Hollowell.

Krista McCollum hosted a lingerie shower in Starkville.

Krista McCollum, Brittney Baylot, Haley Jones and Kari Lieberman surprised the bride-elect with a weekend get away weekend to New Orleans.
