Samuel Estes Beevers

HOLIDAY ISLAND, Ark. — Samuel Estes Beevers, age 78, of Holiday Island, Ark., went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Eureka Springs Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1933, to Carl Guy (Jack) and Ora Alice (Mabus) Beevers in Cleveland, Miss. He married JoAnn Brown Nov. 16, 1952, in Shelby, Miss. He was a Cleveland High School graduate and attended Mississippi Delta Community College.
In his early years, Samuel drove a bus for the Cleveland School District and worked for the Texaco station in Cleveland.
He then became employed by Mississippi Power and Light Co. and had a 42-year career serving the cities of Cleveland, Greenville and Vicksburg. He was Plant Manager before his retirement in 1990.
Samuel was a United States Army Veteran, having served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Holiday Island Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking and being a clocksmith for his close friends and family. He formerly served as president, secretary and treasurer for the Optimist Club in Greenville.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margie Rush; and two brothers, Aubrey Beevers and Darwin Beevers.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn Brown Beevers of Holiday Island; two sons, Terry Beevers of Pell City, Ala., and Gregg Beevers (wife Pam Fletcher) of Olive Branch, Miss.; two brothers, Joe Beevers and Jackie Beevers, both of Cleveland, Miss.; three grandchildren, Wade Beevers of Birmingham, Ala., Kathleen Beevers of Auburn, Ala., and Amelia Beevers of Olive Branch. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Cleveland Funeral Home with graveside service following in the North Cleveland Cemetery at 11 a.m. Brother Eddie Chapman will officiate the service.
Pallbearers are Wade Beevers, Kelly Beevers, Jackie Beevers, Joe Beevers, Joey Beevers and Butch Craig.
Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Rush.
