ROLLING FORK — James Macon died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 70.
He was an employee of the Sharkey County Health Department for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Willie M. Macon of Rolling Fork; four sons, James Macon of Fort Myers, Fla., Ervin Macon and Robert Macon, both of Rolling Fork, and Curtis Macon of Sarasota, Fla.; four daughters, Sherry Macon of Bradenton, Fla., Mildred Pope of Ridgeland, Cassandra Williams of Mayersville and Lisa Bell of San Diego; 11 brothers, Bobby Williams of Tampa, Fla., Jimmie Macon and Robert Macon, both of Vicksburg, Jim H. Macon Jr. and Sammie Macon, both of Lansing, Mich., Willie Macon, Charles Macon and Lonnell Macon, all of Rolling Fork, Gerald Macon of Jackson and Michael Griffin and Ray Griffin, both of Atlanta; 14 sisters, Mildred Hopson of Hattiesburg, Nora Harris, Gloria Fletcher and Addie Smith, all of Chicago, Corrine Williams, Ruthie Price and Louise Thomas, all of Memphis, Janice Macon of Lansing, Edna Sanders of Houston, Miss., Betty Clark, Clarie Mills and Sharon Griffin, all of Atlanta, Rose M. Porter of Vicksburg and Linda Oliver of Tampa; 28 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Collie and Addie Coleman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with Pastor Carl Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.
