A Tallulah man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup on Louisiana 3202 in Richmond, Louisiana State Police spokesman trooper Albert Paxton said.
Billy Wayne Thompson, 52, was killed about 2:45 p.m. when his eastbound 2009 Harley-Davidson collided with a westbound 1997 GMC pickup driven by Darryl Sandidge, 45, of Tallulah, who was attempting to turn left into a private drive, Paxton said.
According to the accident report, Thompson was wearing a helmet, but it came off during the collision.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison Parish Coroner Dr. Thomas Neumann, who said the cause of death was massive trauma.
Sandidge, who was not injured, was charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, Paxton said. Other charges might be filed pending the results of toxicology tests on a blood sample taken from Sandidge, which is done as a routine procedure in fatal accidents, he said.
Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Thompson.
Paxton said the accident was the eighth fatal accident investigated by Troop F this year.
