I would like to respond to the Oct. 28 “Jail Heat” article describing the condition of the Warren County Jail. Isn’t a jail supposed to be an uncomfortable place to be?

I would much rather have it miserable to put it through a prisoner’s mind that maybe they don’t want to ever come back again.

The Vicksburg Post article compared the odor on the second floor of the jail to that of a dirty truck stop restroom. I would be more concerned that the health department would look into the truck stop; honest hard-working citizens have to use that.

I do feel for the corrections officers working there. Their facilities should be upgraded and their security and health should be a top priority but not the comfort of a convicted criminal.

As for the graffiti, urine on the floor, burnt paper etc., give them all scrub brushes every morning and have them clean and scrub all day. Do you think that would stop after taxpayers spent a couple of million dollars on a new jail?

Use the money somewhere else, make prisoners not want to come back! Jail is not supposed to be comfortable.
