LEXINGTON — Helen Ables Ainsworth was born on July 18, 1930, in Holmes County to Joe Byrd and Essie Ables. She died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012.

She married Riley Ainsworth on April 8, 1950, and they were the proud parents of three children. Helen was affectionately known as “Wink” or “Laverne” by family and friends. Her first love was God and then her family. She loved having her family come home for visits, and she always cooked their favorite foods. She never tired of working in her yard and always had beautiful flowers to show for it.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Byrd and Essie Ables; husband, Riley E. Ainsworth; grandson, Cade Ainsworth; and sister, Gladys Rogers.

She is survived by daughters Debbie Anding and husband Grafton of Vicksburg and Cherie Ricks and husband Tommy of Crystal Springs; son, Danny Ainsworth and wife Dianna of Madison; grandchildren, Randy and Tiffany Yates of Katy, Texas, Cissi and Scott Malpass of Clinton, Brian Anding of Nashville, Thomas Ricks of Starkville and Calli Ainsworth of Madison; great-grandchildren, Peyton Guy, Bradyn and Davis Yates of Katy and Brantley and Bryson Malpass of Clinton; brothers, Joe C. “Snow” Ables and James Mabry Ables, both of Lexington, and sister, Annie Faye Ferrell of Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in memory of Cade Ainsworth.

Pallbearers will be Randy Yates, Brian Anding, Thomas Ricks, Scott Malpass, Perry Alford, Grady Ables, Terry Ables and Lamar Ferrell.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 until 8 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Harlands Creek Cemetery in Coxburg following the service.
