Dukes romp over Braves

A week after a stirring, come-from-behind win over Grambling State in the opener, Alcorn State was crushed 42-3 by James Madison on the road Saturday.
The Dukes (2-0) raced to a 28-0 halftime lead, led by the rushing of Dae’Quan Scott (107 yards, two scores) and quarterback Justin Thorpe (101 yards, one score).
Darius Smith completed 22 of 39 passes for 148 yards, with one interception, and rushed for 48 more for the Braves (1-1, 1-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference).
Alcorn State’s home opener is Saturday, as the Braves host SWAC foe Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Reservation at 4 p.m.
