Ables marries Johnson at St. Alban’s Episcopal

Corey Allen Ables and Jessica Ann Johnson were married at 4 p.m. Nov. 5, 2011, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bovina. The Rev. Billie Abraham officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of James Warren “Sonny” and Teresa Adele Johnson of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gray Johnson and the late Ann Scott Johnson of Greenwood and Juanita Gardner and the late Oscar Lee Gardner of Morgan City.
The groom is the son of James Ronald “Ronnie” and Suzanne Ables of Kosciusko. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hugh Ables of Sallis and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Plunkett of Williamsville. He is the great-grandson of Estelle Cain Ables and the late Arthur M. Ables of Kosciusko.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were burgundy, gold, rust and ivory in a fall theme.
Organist Joan Henderson-Leese led a program of nuptial music.
Maid of honor was Dr. Alanna N. Johnson, sister of the bride, of College Station, Texas. Honorary bridesmaids were April Shook Outlaw, Colby Miller and Lindsey Gay, all of Vicksburg; Virginia Kara Tapp of Starkville; Anna Roselle Stout of Nashville; Amanda Shirley of Atlanta; Ashley Christopher Goldman of Birmingham, Ala.; and Danielle Peterson of Destin, Fla.
The groom’s father served as best man. Honorary groomsmen were Antonio Shon Myatt, Cole Ferris, Joseph Mitchell and Chap Fenwick, all of Starkville; Andrew Townsend of Clinton; Joseph Linton of Brandon; and Cass Coon of McComb.
Ushers were James G. Johnson II, brother of the bride, of Vicksburg and Antonio Shon Myatt of Starkville.
Lectors were James G. Johnson II of Vicksburg; Dr. Alanna N. Johnson, sister of the bride; and Kristen Ables, sister of the groom, of Kosciusko.
Kristen Ables of Kosciusko served as program attendant.
Special wedding assistant was Shirley Riddle.
A reception followed at the B’nai’ B’rith Literary Club. Guests were entertained with music by the Ben Shaw Band.
Shelby Turner of Sallis attended the guest register. Favors were distributed by Lindsey Turner of Sallis and Abby Johnson of Eupora.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to the Jamaican Islands. They will make their home in Clinton.
The bride is employed with Bowhead Science & Technology and USACE-ERDC, Corps of Engineers Information Technology Laboratory in Vicksburg. The groom is a credit analyst at Merchants & Farmers Bank in Madison.
Brunch
Linda McGowan and Rachael Cook hosted a bridal brunch on the morning of the wedding at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church fellowship hall. The bride chose this time to pre-sent gifts to her attendants.
Rehearsal dinner
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Duff’s Tavern for family and members of the wedding party. The groom chose this time to pre-sent gifts to his attendants.
Bachelorette party
April Outlaw and Lindsey Gay hosted a bachelorette weekend in Orange Beach, Fla.
Bachelor party
The groom was honored with a weekend in New Orleans by the groomsmen.
Announcement party
The bridal couple was honored with an announcement party at the home of Jacob Clark in Greenwood. Assisting in hosting were Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Johnson, Kay Mincielit, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gardner, Dolly Gardner Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Outlaw, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Goldman, Colby Miller, Lindsey Gay, Mr. and Mrs. Rayn Stout and Daniele Peterson.

The ladies of First Baptist Church hosted a bridal tea in Kosciusko.
Showers
A bridal shower was held at the home of Angie Flowers in Greenwood. Co-hostesses were Betty Johnson, Pam Bush, Penny Hollister and Anna Makamson.
Shirley Ables and Jackie Ables Turner hosted a bridal shower in the fellowship hall of Sallis Baptist Church.
Shirley Riddle, Irene Sanders, Mary Sullivan and Rachelle Farris honored the bride with a miscellaneous shower at Main Street Market in Vicksburg.
