A Vicksburg man convicted five years ago of drug possession was back in the Warren County Jail today accused of having a bag of cocaine when stopped in Warren County.

Roosevelt Qualls, 30, 2727 Alcorn Drive, Apt. 201, was arrested and charged shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Qualls is accused of having a plastic bag containing cocaine when he was stopped by Deputy Dan Ratliff near Gibson Road and Washington Circle.

Qualls was in the Warren County Jail today waiting to be taken to Hinds County, where he also faces possession of cocaine charges, Pace said.

Qualls also was being held for the Mississippi Department of Corrections on a probation violation for a 2007 cocaine possession charge, Pace said.

In April 2011, Qualls was found guilty of violating probation on the same charge and sentenced to three years in prison, including drug and alcohol treatment.

A call to MDOC regarding Qualls’ release date from that offense went unanswered this morning.
