A Forest man was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center Friday after rear-ending a stopped 18-wheeler on Interstate 20.
Willie Bradford, 59, 41 Bradford Circle, Forest, was listed in good condition, hospital spokesman Gary Pettus said.
Bradford was traveling eastbound in his 18-wheeler on I-20 about 10 a.m. when he struck another 18-wheeler driven by Randy Butler, 42, 1639 St. John Road, Braxton, that was stopped.
Butler’s truck then hit an 18-wheeler driven by Santos Arangos-Ramos, 56, 1400 Southwest Fifth St., Miami, Fla. Traffic was slowed on I-20 to deal with an earlier wreck near Bovina.
Butler was taken to River Region Medical Center, where he was treated and released hospital spokeswoman Heather Butler said.
Vicksburg Police Officer Eric Payman said Bradford’s truck was going fast enough to push Butler’s 18-wheeler into Aramos’.
“The second truck was stopped also, but number three came with so much force, that it pushed the second one into the first one,” Payman said.
The wreck backed up traffic to the Halls Ferry Road interchange by 1 p.m. as traffic was diverted to East Clay Street. The interstate was reopened to traffic around 2 p.m.
