Josh Smith, 9, son of Patrick and Trisha Smith, appears on stage during his performance of “Blue Suede Shoes” during the Porters Chapel Academy talent show Saturday evening. Josh concluded his performance by throwing his red scarf into the crowd. The performance earned him the elementary first-place prize. This was the first talent show at the school in eight years, according to music teacher and emcee Cindy Rollison. Proceeds go to the fine arts department budget. Twenty-two students performed Saturday.
