MADISON — Walter Lee Brown Sr. died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 85.
Mr. Brown was retired from International Paper Co. after 41 years of service. He was a Mason and was a member of the Flora Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leon and Blanche Wise Brown of Haynesville, La.; his brothers, Fred Brown, Carl Brown and Andy Brown; a sister, Edith Leach of Eldorado, Ark.; and his only daughter, Diane Braswell of Vicksburg.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie Mae Brown of Madison; his son, Walter Lee Brown Jr., and his wife, Nonnie, of Madison; his brother, Amos Brown, and his wife, Debbie, of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Brown, of Springhill, La.; a brother-in-law, Norval Lee Cecil, of Hamburg, Ark.; a granddaughter, (the apple of his eye), Shelby Lee Brown; a stepgrandson, Joseph Welch, and his fiancee, Luriel; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the Flora Baptist Church with Joe Cole, pastor, officiating assisted by Gil Powell, minister of music. A graveside service will be 3:30 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg has charge of arrangements.
