Main Street is looking for new managers for the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen Monday accepted the resignations of market manager Candace Palmertree and assistant manager Dwan J. Henderson. The board authorized City Clerk Walter Osborne to re-advertise the jobs.
Henderson submitted her resignation on May 9, saying she was unable to continue working because of the intense labor of moving equipment. Palmertree’s resignation was May 17. She said the job was not a good fit.
Vicksburg Main Street executive director Kim Hopkins said Main Street officials currently are handling the managers’ duties.
Palmertree and Henderson were hired in March as independent contractors, and were being paid through a two-year, $47,823 U.S. Department of Agriculture Farmers’ Market Promotion Grant to help better promote the farmers’ market.
Palmertree was paid $336 a month for the length of the grant and $100 for each market day she worked, and received mileage for visiting farmers to recruit and certify farms for the market. Henderson received $288 a month and $70 per market day she worked.
