I especially liked the Dec. 2 editorial about the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. But if I might I would like to add a thought that is not often mentioned when talking about World War II.

Many folks never give much thought that the men were not the only ones who went to war. Remember Rosie the Riveter? She was just one of the many thousands of American women who also went to war. Their war was in the factories, plants and farms where the men would have been. They went to work doing jobs they had not done before and did one heck of a good job.

I have read where they were building airplanes at an unbelievable rate. They were involved in just about every, if not all areas of manufacturing any and all materials and equipment needed for the war effort. There is no way this country could have made it without them. They are the unsung heroes of that great war. The best soldiers in the world are useless without equipment to fight with.

These American ladies provided what was needed and were as much a part of the victory as the troops. I have always felt there should be some kind of special time or date to remember Rosie the Riveter and her gang. We all owe them a great deal for their service to this nation.
