Gerache will be missed

I believe I can truly speak for the majority of people who knew and loved Bubba Gerache, as it was quite evident by the outpouring of love and support shown at his visitation and funeral.
Last December, a terrible tragedy struck him, his family and also his absence at the Corner Drug Store. News of his illness quickly spread throughout the city and everyone began praying for a full recovery. Being a pharmacist was truly a calling for Bubba.
Months passed and it appeared his recovery was imminent, but unfortunately things took a turn for the worse on July 3. He died on July 9.
Four generations of my family have used the Corner Drug Store. It was our drug store of choice. Papa Joe was there in my earlier years, but Bubba would ultimately take over the business and was always there for anyone who needed him. Some people referred to him as “Dr. Bubba” because he was so full of medical knowledge.
The one thing I will miss the most about Bubba was his cheerful and fun-loving manner. He knew every customer by name and was the epitome of politene.
The Corner Drug Store may have changed it’s name, but for me, I will always think of it as a lifetime of wonderful memories and its owner a man with a beautiful smile.
God gave us 60 great years to know and love Bubba. I will miss him and his wisdom until the day I pass away. May he rest in peace eternally and, with that said, I was proud to call Bubba Gerache my friend.
