Vicksburg could have a seventh place to enjoy a Subway sandwich by midyear.
A Subway and room for retail shops is the plan for land on East Clay Street next to the newest Wendy’s restaurant, said Kirit Desai of Jackson-based KVS Enterprises Inc.
The firm owns the Subway location on Pemberton Square Boulevard. The 1.2-acre site in front of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District Headquarters is where Maxwell’s Restaurant operated for four decades until it closed in September 2005. Wendy’s opened its location on the tract in 2011.
Surveyors marked corners on the property this week.
The store would join Subway locations on Pemberton, inside Walmart at 2150 Iowa Blvd., inside the Kangaroo gas station at 3140 Indiana Ave., inside the Texaco gas station at 1775 Washington St., inside Exxon gas station at 1215 Mission 66, and at 4303 U.S. 61 South.
