BASSFIELD — Ruby Jefferies died Sunday, March 11, 2012, in Prentiss. She was 89.

Mrs. Jefferies was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church where she served as a mother and a member of the choir. She was a member of the women’s missionary, Baptist Aid and Christian Aid. She had been a beautician for more than 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Jefferies; her parents, James and Margaret Devoual; and a brother, J.C. Devoual.

Survivors include her daughter, Erma S. Griffith of Bassfield; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in the Westside Community with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 1 until 6 at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
