Two Vicksburg women were in the Warren County Jail this morning, both accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the jail.

Crystal Williams, 24, Smyrna, Ga., had been held in Atlanta after police there discovered a Warren County drug warrant after an Aug. 8 arrest on a misdemeanor charge, said Sheriff Martin Pace.

The charge involves an April 2011 incident in which Deputy Valorie White found cocaine on Williams during a search while booking her into the jail after her arrest by Vicksburg police for drugs, Pace said.

She was booked back into the Warren County Jail early Saturday. She also faces drug charges from Vicksburg for possession of cocaine, Pace said.

She is charged with possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility and possession of cocaine in a correctional facility.

Williams was indicted on the smuggling charges in July 2011 and was to go to trial in March. When she did not show up for trial, a circuit court fugitive warrant was issued.

At jail visitation Sunday afternoon, Alonda Wright, 29, 515 Heartwood Drive, was accused of bringing about a half ounce of marijuana into the jail, Pace said.

She was arrested about 2:15 after deputies found the marijuana during a check of visitors coming to see inmates at the jail.
