Arthur Lawler

GLEN ALLAN — Arthur “Bubba” Lawler died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 74.

A loving father, husband, grandfather and cherished friend to all, Bubba never met a stranger and lived by the motto, “Just do what is right.” As an elected official, Bubba served as sheriff of Issaquena County, Miss., from 1972 to 2003. At the end of his eight consecutive terms, Bubba retired undefeated.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Holcomb Lawler and Arthur T. Lawler; three brothers, Freddie, Herbert and Jimmy Herman; and two sisters, Wanda Gore and Margaret League.

Bubba is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Bagley Lawler; daughter, Lisa Nipper and her spouse Larry, of Chatham, Miss.; sons, Lee Lawler and his spouse Cindy, of Glen Allan, and Todd Lawler and his spouse Amy, of Southaven, Miss.; four grandsons, Nelson Nipper, John Jared Nipper, Mason Lawler and Colton Lawler; granddaughter, Annabeth Lawler; sister, Pearl Massey of Vicksburg; brother Harold Herman of Slidell, La.; and a host of other family members.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Greenfield Cemetery, with Glenwood Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the home of Arthur and Dolores Lawler, 940 Lake Washington Road West, Glen Allan.

Pallbearers will be Lisa L. Nipper, Lee Lawler, Todd Lawler, Larry Nipper, Nelson Nipper, John Jared Nipper and Mason Lawler.
