Vicksburg shows out

for Heritage forum

On behalf of the governing board of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, I want to thank the people of Vicksburg, and especially the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Vicksburg National Military Park, for participating in our recent community forum.

We held this event in the Military Park on May 14. About 40 people attended the meeting to learn more about the National Heritage Area and to participate in the planning.

The board members and our consultants, led by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, appreciate the enthusiasm the people of Vicksburg have for their rich cultural heritage and we look forward to working with you as we move forward with the implementation of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area.

This partnership with the National Park Service, together with the recent designation of the Delta as a national treasure by the National Trust, promises to bring new economic development to the Delta and also to promote better understanding of the Delta’s heritage across our country and around the world.
