John Taylor McMahon

John Taylor McMahon of Vicksburg died Thursday, Aug. 19 after he was injured in an auto accident. He was 66.

Mr. McMahon was born in Natchez and served in the armed forces from 1965 to 1989. He spent 12 years in the U.S. Army and 10 years in the National Guard. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Ladru McMahon of Vicksburg; his mother, Lorene Johnson McMahon of Ferriday, La.; two daughters, Terri Hali of Los Angeles, Calif. and Shannon McMahon Gilligan of Brandon; a son Charles Jeffery McMahon of Cortez, Colo.; four sisters, Patricia Myers of Ferriday, La., Betty Flowers of Raymond and Ethel Nelson of Braxon; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Oscar McMahon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Doug Netterville, Adrian Netterville, Michael Cox, Jack Dean and Jay Myers.
