A fire caused by children playing with a lighter damaged a mobile home in the county.
Around 5 p.m., the bedroom of a mobile home at 74 Red Oak Drive caught fire when children were playing with a lighter, LeTourneau Volunteer Fire Chief Robert Pell said.
“The kids pulled the foam out of the mattress and were lighting it,” Pell said. “This is what we try to teach kids not to do.”
Firefighters were able to respond quickly, and only the bedroom was burned, Pell said. The house also suffered smoke and water damage, he said.
“They should be able to fix it up and live in there again,” he said.
No injuries reported.
