Pearl H. Massey

Pearl H. Massey died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home of natural causes. She was 86.

Mrs. Massey was born in Sikeston, Mo., the daughter of Fred Herman and Eva Earle Herman. She was a graduate of Rolling Fork Lines Consolidated School.

Pearl was a dedicated wife and mother of six boys. She loved her church and was a member of Beechwood Assembly of God, active in all church activities for more than 30 years.

When at home, she enjoyed cooking fresh vegetables from her garden. There was always room for one more at her table.

She helped build from the ground up Massey’s General Repair and worked side by side with her husband, T.A. Massey, in that business for more than 25 years. After her retirement, she continued to care for numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thedrell A. Massey Sr.; two sons, Thedrell A. Massey Jr. and Gregory Neal Massey; two sisters, Wanda Gore and Margaret League; and three brothers, Jimmy Herman, Herbert Herman and Arthur R. Lawler.

She is survived by one brother, Harold Herman of Slidell, La.; four sons, Richard E. Massey (Margo), Bruce T. Massey (Rhonda) and Kenneth M. Massey, all of Vicksburg, and William M. Massey (Vicki) of Shreveport, La. Grandchildren include Kelley Massey, Stacey Massey, Remy Massey (Kasman) — mother Norma; William C. Massey — mother Margo; Bruce T. Massey II — mother Kathy; Christie Massey — mother Debbie; Nicole Massey and Peyton Massey. Great-grandchildren include Josh Eargle, Koury Beth Eargle, Rexford Massey, Rainey Massey Shiers, Destiny Massey Shiers, Nealy Massey and Gracie Massey.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service, which is at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 1790 Sherman Ave., Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Remy Massey, Cole Massey, B.T. Massey, Peyton Massey, Dave Duncan and Gary Green.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Massey, Tommy Beard, the nursing staff and caregivers on the second floor Vicksburg Convalescent Home and Patient’s Choice Hospice and Palliative Care.
