Two held in attacks on public workers

A man accused of punching a police officer and another accused of having his dog attack a firefighter were held without bail today.
At 3:40 p.m. Sunday, Michael Brown, 21, 153 Elizabeth Circle, was arrested and charged with simple assault of a police officer, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.
Brown is accused of punching patrolman DiaWardrick Grover in the face when Grover was investigating why Brown was directing traffic at First North and South streets, Stewart said.
Brown was held this morning in the Issaquena County Jail.
At 1:07 a.m. Sunday, Kenard Younger, 30, 901 Speed St., was arrested and charged with simple assault of a firefighter after he ordered his pit bull to attack fire department Lt. Daniel Norwood, Stewart said. Norwood was bitten on the hand and arm and was treated and released from River Region Medical Center.
Norwood was attempting to examine Younger, who officers had hit with a Taser, before the attack occurred, Stewart said. Younger also attempted to have his dog attack police officers, Stewart said.
